Our U3A started life at an Inaugural 1Meeting on the 18th of April 2017 and we cover all the communities in and around The Denby Dale Parish situated in South Kirklees, West Yorkshire. These include, the villages of Skelmanthorpe, (shown by the red arrow) Denby Dale, Scissett, Clayton West, Shepley, Upper and Lower Cumberworth and Emley. We also welcome members from outside this area as well as members of other U3A’s.

We are part of the national and international U3A movement, in which retired and semi retired people come together to socialise and enjoy learning new skills, activities and interests. Since conception we have consistently offered 25 or so groups meeting for activities on a weekly or fortnightly basis. These are organised by volunteer group leaders who are enthusiasts but not necessarily ‘experts'. Some make a small charge to cover costs such as room hire, tea/coffee etc. A small committee assists with their formation and support where necessary, but most groups are self sufficient once formed.
Membership fees of £15 pa are currently the same as in 2017 and include a contribution to the Third Age Trust and an annual fee for our IT administration system.
Admission forms are available from both Skelmanthorpe and Denby Dale Libraries or can be printed from this website. Click on Membership and you will be taken to the page
Denby Dale High Street

In addition to regular group meetings there is a monthly presentation on a wide range of topics and both day and overnight trips are organised and are open to all members.
A Weekly Bulletin keeps members informed regarding weekly activities and events planned for the future.
