Following our recent successful Members’ Art Group Exhibition, the group has had expressions of interest from U3A members and others.
There was already a short waiting list and so the group is now actively making arrangements to create more spaces so that new people may be included and benefit from what is offered.
If you are interested to learn more about the Group, please contact the Coordinator by clicking on the link above. You can then arrange to pop in one Monday afternoon to meet us.
The Group meets weekly on Mondays in the Skelmanthorpe Council Building. Members use a variety of media and ‘do their own thing’. However, there is plenty of support and encouragement when needed, and we learn from each other. There is no formal ’teaching’ but we do invite practising artists to demonstrate or to lead a workshop from time to time. We have a small stock of resources and books which are for the whole group to use to supplement their own materials.

We occasionally host workshops by visiting artists and we recently paid a visit to Cannon Hall Walled Garden where we did a workshop with Louise Ann Wright a local artist who makes her own pigments from plants and other natural materials. Individual members of the group sometimes offer a workshop in an area of expertise or on a particular topic

There is an opportunity for members to exhibit their work in the exhibitions which are mounted in the Council Building by Village Art
